West Hill & Aylesbeare
Branch & Club

The “Legion” as many locals refer to it is the home of both the West Hill Branch of the Royal British Legion and to the Royal British Legion West Hill Club.

The RBL Clubhouse is leased from the Branch by the Club and a wide range of activities and facilities are available to members, guests, visitors and local community groups alike. All are welcome to visit us, use the facilities, and enjoy the warm friendly atmosphere.

The Legion’s facilities include a large lounge and Bar equipped with a 107 inch projector screen,

47 inch LCD TV, Skittle Alley, Pool table, and Dart board.

Adjoining the lounge are a Snooker Room with a full-size snooker table and a fully equipped kitchen.

The Dressmaker

In 1926, in the fictitious outback town of Dungatar, State of Victoria, 10-year-old schoolgirl Myrtle Dunnage is blamed for the death of classmate Stewart Pettyman. A sympathetic policeman, Sergeant Horatio Farrat, sends her away. Twenty-five years later, Myrtle, now a couturier-trained dressmaker using the name “Tilly”, returns to Dungatar. She remembers nothing of Stewart’s death, and her mentally ill mother Molly, living in squalor, does not even remember her.
At the local football final game, the Dungatar players are distracted by Tilly’s red couture dress. Teddy McSwiney points this out, and she changes into an equally alluring black outfit before the last quarter. When the teams swap ends of the field, the men from Winyerp are the distracted ones, and Dungatar wins.

Set in 1981, this film tells the story of a young girl, Cáit, who is sent away for the summer from her dysfunctional family to live with “her mother’s people”. These are Seán and Eibhlín Cinnsealach; a middle-aged couple she has never met. Slowly, in the care of this couple, Cáit blossoms and discovers a new way of living, but in this house where affection grows and there are meant to be no secrets, she discovers one.

The room can be laid out in many different ways for various occasions and we will ensure that you are able to access the room if you want to dress the room and tables.
 
We can accommodate around 100 people for a party or up to 66 people for a sit-down meal.  If you want to use the room for a corporate event then again, it can be set up to suit your individual needs.
 
Whatever the occasion from Birthdays – Surprise Parties – Engagements – Weddings – Anniversaries – or After Funeral Parties we will do our best to accommodate.
